UCLG held its first Policy Debate session on 17th June 2014, dedicated to a crosscutting theme of UCLG's global agenda: Planning and Public Spaces. Participants joined this meeting to analyse two dimensions of the urban agenda.
Representatives of sub-national authorities from across the world called for local ownership of the post-2015 development agenda at a meeting in Liverpool on the 17th of June.
Bilbao ha sido elegida como sede de la Primera Cumbre de Cultura de CGLU 2015 durante la reunión del Bureau Ejecutivo de CGLU celebrada en Liverpool. Desde el Congreso fundacional de París, la cultura siempre ha estado en el corazón de CGLU, tal y como se demuestra con la adopción de la Agenda 21 de Cultura (mayo de 2004).
El Bureau Ejecutivo de Ciudades y Gobiernos Locales Unidos (CGLU) tendrá lugar en Liverpool, Reino Unido, desde el 17 al 19 de junio de 2014, a invitación del Alcalde de la ciudad, Sr. Joe Anderson, y de la Asociación de Gobiernos locales (LGA), en el marco del International Festival for Business (IFB).
CGLU ha presentado en Liverpool el informe anual de actividades del periodo 2013, en la reunión del Bureau Ejecutivo que ha tenido lugar el 19 de junio 2014. El informe recoge todas las actividades realizadas por la organización mundial en el curso de 2013 y pretende presentar los alcance de las secciones de nuestra red global.
Following a meeting of the Task Team (made up of representatives of UCLG Africa, UCLG MEWA, FLACMA, Platform and the UCLG World Secretariat) on the 24th of June, the EU Policy Forum on Development (PFD) in the Latin America and the Caribbean region was held in Lima, Peru, on 25-26th of June.
With the negotiations on climate are resuming in Bonn from 2 to 13 June, the Local Governments and Municipal Authorities constituency, has convened a delegation of technical and political representatives to participate in the meetings.
A learning exchange event on “Re-imagining public spaces” was held from the 4th to 6th of June in Durban, South Africa. The event was jointly hosted by eThewkini – Durban, COGTA (provincial body of the Ministry of Corporate Governance and Traditional Affairs), UCLG, UCLG Africa, and UN Habitat.

Assoc. Prof. Barış KARAPINAR, lecturer at Boğaziçi University, delivered a talk on “Intergovernmental Climate Change Panel Fifth Evaluation Report: Effects of Climate Changes on Cities, Vulnerabilities and Harmony”, at the UCLG-MEWA Headquarters in Sultanahmet.
Se prevé la asistencia al XI Congreso Mundial de Metropolis en Hyderabad de más de dos mil delegados procedentes de más de un centenar de ciudades de todo el mundo, así como de cargos públicos y electos de más de cien ciudades de primer y segundo nivel (las que tienen mayor número de habitantes) de India.
En el marco de la XIV Conferencia del Observatorio Internacional de democracia participativa (OIDP, celebrada en Canoas, Brasil, los días 3, 4 y 05 de junio de 2014, una delegación mozambiqueña encabezada por el Presidente de la Consejo Municipal de Matola, Calisto Moses Cossa, participaron para conocer de primera mano los proyectos en el área de seguridad pública y participación popular.

El “Premio Internacional CGLU - CIUDAD DE MÉXICO – Cultura21” tiene como objetivo premiar a ciudades y personas líderes que se hayan destacado en su aporte a la cultura como dimensión del desarrollo sostenible. El Premio reforzará la difusión y la implementación local de la Agenda 21 de la cultura.
La Comisión de Inclusión Social, Democracia Participativa y Derechos Humanos de Ciudades y Gobiernos Locales Unidos (CGLU) coorganizó, junto con la ciudad de Gwangju, el Centro Internacional de Gwangju y la Fundación Coreana de Derechos Humanos, el 4º Foro Mundial de Ciudades por los Derechos Humanos (WHRCF).

Citiscope’s urban innovation feature this week is on the “ideas camp” for European cities hosted recently by Bloomberg Philanthropies in Berlin. The 21 cities are finalists in the most recent round of the Bloomberg Mayors Challenge.
Between 10th and 12th June, the Cities Forum, which is linked to UCLG and other institutions, took place at IFEMA, Madrid. The forum was attended by Mayors and Managers of Ibero-American cities.
A new tool has been produced for local and regional governments to contribute to the post-2015 Agenda and the New Urban Agenda of Habitat III in 2016.
