25 years after the Fourth World Conference on Women, the Beijing process has unleashed remarkable political will and global visibility, strengthening the activism of women's movements worldwide. The Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action also acted as a guiding and methodological tool for gender mainstreaming throughout the political, economic, cultural and social structure and system, aiming to achieve substantive equality through equal access to opportunities. The Future is Public Transport Campaign

United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) and the International Union of Public Transport (UITP) join C40 Cities and the International Transport Workers’ Federation in The Future is Public Transport Campaign to ensure that public transport is safeguarded and strengthened in the recovery from COVID-19 and that financing is secured to ensure mass transit and local service provision can continue to work towards fostering solidarity and protecting people and the planet through access to services and sustainable modes of transport. Alliance between organised civil society and local governments; critical piece of feminist municipalism

In the context of the 65th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW65), UCLG organised an open dialogue between local and regional governments and civil society organisations in order to advance on gender equality and women empowerment as means for resilient communities that care. (+)
UCLG through its Working Group on Capacity and Institution-Building is currently starting the drafting of an updated Policy Paper on local government development cooperation. (+)
