UCLG at the World Urban Forum, Rio de Janeiro, 22nd to 26th of March

United Cities and Local Governments will be represented by Augusto Barrera, Mayor of Quito, Ecuador, and Co-President of UCLG, at the opening ceremony of the World Urban Forum, organized by UN-Habitat in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from the 22nd to the 26th of March.

Over the course of the Forum, UCLG shall co-host a mayors’ round table on the 22nd of March from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will participate in the meeting of UNACLA- the consultative committee of local authorities before UN-Habitat, on the 23rd of March from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Several UCLG Committees are actively involved in the organization of the World Urban Forum.

The Committee for Social Inclusion shall hold a session on the Right to the City, on the 24th of March from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and a representative of the Committee will participate in the Dialogue on the Right to the City, on the 23rd from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., in the UNESCO and UN-Habitat session on Inclusive Cities. on the same day the UNESCO-UN-Habitat Session on Inclusive Cities.

The Committee on Decentralization and Local Self-Government will hold a session on Decentralization and Basic Services on the 24th from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

On the same day, the UCLG Urban Strategic Planning Committee shall work on its Policy Paper on Urban Strategic Planning.
