UCLG-CISDP participates in 5th Human Rights World Forum

Human Rights World Forum

The Committee on Social Inclusion, Participatory Democracy and Human Rights (CISDP) of UCLG will participate in the 5th Human Rights World Forum, to be held in Nantes (France) from 22 to 25 May 2013. Ms Maite Fandos, Chair of the Committee and Deputy Mayor of Barcelona, and Ms Delphine Bouffenie, Vice Chair of the Committee and Municipal Councillor of Nantes  invite to participate in this edition, which main topic will be: ‘Human Rights – Sustainable Development: the same fight?’ .

Since its creation in 2004, the Nantes Human Rights World Forum aims to promote the implementation of human rights at the local level, being fully part of the thinking and the actions within the commission. In 2010, 2800 participants representing a hundred different nationalities assisted to the event.

The Forum is a privileged space that offers to the local authorities’ representatives the possibility to present their politics, projects and programs of human rights guarantee and to know experiences from other municipalities.

All categories of actors in the field of human rights throughout the world are also called to participate (experts, civil society representatives, international organisations…) with the goal to ensure that these actors work together to define and implement collectively public policies aimed to make human rights come true for the inhabitants of cities.
