The city of Mexico hosts International Seminar: Local Governments for the Right to the City

From 20 to 22 April 2015, the International seminar of local governments for the Right to the City will take place in Mexico City, co-organized by the Committee on Social Inclusion, Participatory Democracy and Human Rights and Mexico City.

This seminar aims at exchanging concrete experiences between local governments to move forward the right to the city and strengthening the network of local governments committed to fair, democratic, inclusive and sustainable cities. This is also an opportunity to enhance strategic alliances between local governments, civil society and academic sector, towards the definition of the New Global Urban Agenda (UN-Habitat Summit, Quito, 2016).

The Seminar of Local Governments for the Right to the City will gather more than 20 international speakers on all issues related to the concrete implementation of the right to the city: planning, settlement, participation, gender equality, cities for all, united and inclusive metropolis. Furthermore, Mexico City will propose field visits.

The first 2015 biannual meeting of the Committee on Social Inclusion, Participatory Democracy and Human Rights will also be held on this occasion, with the election of new co-presidents and the adoption of the 2015 action plan.
