MC2CM Mediterranean City to City Migration Peer Learning Event

The Mediterranean City to City Migration (MC2CM) Peer Learning Event on “Inclusive Local Citizenship'', organized from 16 to 18  March 2021 by MC2CM and the UCLG Committee on Social Inclusion, Participatory Democracy and Human Rights (UCLG-CSIPDHR) garnered the participation of around 100 MC2CM stakeholders - international organisations, city networks, civil society (CSO) and migrant associations. Over the three days, around 25 cities exchanged practices and explored prevalent notions, challenges and opportunities amongst local and regional governments (LRGs) towards ensuring inclusive local citizenship and the universal Right to the City. In the framework of the 65th session of the Committee on the Status of Women (CSW65), UCLG fostered a gathering on the importance of the participation of women and feminist leaders in politics and decision-making as a key factor to enable governing with empathy, to prioritizing the public in direct response to the needs and aspirations of the people and communities. As we are entering the recovery phase of the pandemic, the need to foster women’s participation in decision-making has become even more urgent, as has the need to rethink the type of priorities to be placed at the center of the political and social debate. The rethinking of the future “normal” necessitates redefining priorities towards the people, the planet, and the government. (+)
Resilience Module reaches UCLG-ASPAC cities with interactive training of trainers’ approach

The roll-out of the Resilience Learning Module continues with three-day training co-facilitated by UCLG-ASPAC and UCLG’s Learning team between March 9-11 counting with the participation of 25 representatives from eight Asia-Pacific local governments and five national LRG associations. (+)
